Sergio Dompé is President of the Dompé Group, a leading Italian biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of innovative therapeutic solutions for rare and orphan diseases.
To date, he has consolidated its commitment in R&D within an open innovation network of 300 research centers worldwide.
As an entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, he has been awarded honorary degrees in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies (University of Bologna, 1996), Medical Biotechnologies (University of L’Aquila, 2005), and Pharmacy (University of Urbino, 2010).
In 2017 he was awarded with the Guido Carli Prize.
In 2020 he was appointed as Member of the Scientific Committee of Fondazione Politecnico di Milano and Chairman of the 2021 B20 Task Force for Health and Life Sciences. Among other positions covered, he has been Vice-President of Assolombarda with delegated powers over Life Sciences Area since 2019 and Member of the Board of Confindustria in representation of Farmindustria since 2015.
Other past institutional offices include Member of the Board of the Banca d’Italia in Milan (2014-2020); Member of the Board of the Italian Institute of Technology Foundation (2007-2015); President of Farmindustria (2005-2011); President of Assobiotec (1998-2004).
Born in Milan in 1955, he has been Honorary Consul of Repubblica di San Marino in Milan since 2005.
