Shan Huang is Deputy Managing Editor and Editorial Board Member of Beijing-based Caixin Media, the Chinese equivalent of the Economist. He oversees Caixin’s foreign desk, building on his 17 years of experience in reporting on Chinese domestic and political situations, and external relations with a specific focus on Chinese economic diplomacy.
He is President of the University of Notre Dame (UND) Beijing Alumni Club. He is fellow of the Switzerland-based international leadership development program acronymized as stars – Stein am Rhein Symposium which focuses on developing young talents into responsible future leaders with cross-industry perspectives, high ethical and civic awareness. He is the key organizer of the China-Japan Young Leaders Program.
In 2019 he served as a senior research associate with the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame (US).
In 2018 he was a visiting fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford in the trinity term.
From 2011 to 2012 he served on the UND Greater China Scholarship Selection Committee.
After a Bachelor degree in International Relations from Peking University, Mr. Huang obtained an M.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame. He was the recipient of the Presidential Fellowship of UND, the highest honour granted by UND.
